LOCAL AUTHORITIES (TRAFFIC WARDENS) ACT 1975

This Revised Act is an administrative consolidation of the Local Authorities (Traffic Wardens) Act 1975. It is prepared by the Law Reform Commission in accordance with its function under the Law Reform Commission Act 1975 (3/1975) to keep the law under review and to undertake revision and consolidation of statute law.
All Acts up to and including the Local Government (Maternity Protection and Other Measures for Members of Local Authorities) Act 2022 (52/2022), enacted 21 December 2022, and all statutory instruments up to and including the Planning And Development And Foreshore (Amendment) Act 2022 (Commencement) Order 2023 (S.I. No. 1 of 2023), made 9 January 2023, were considered in the preparation of this Revised Act.

AN ACT TO ENABLE LOCAL AUTHORITIES TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE CARRYING OUT OF CERTAIN FUNCTIONS IN RELATION TO ROAD TRAFFIC, TO ENABLE THE MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT TO MAKE GRANTS TOWARDS EXPENSES INCURRED BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES UNDER THIS ACT, AND TO PROVIDE FOR OTHER MATTERS CONNECTED WITH THE MATTERS AFORESAID. [12th July, 1975]
BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS:

Regulations.
24.—(1) The Minister may make regulations for the purpose of giving full effect to this Act and to the provisions inserted by this Act into the Acts and the Act of 1975.
(2) If in any respect any difficulty arises during the period of 3 years from the commencement of a provision of this Act or an amendment of another Act effected by this Act in bringing the provision or amendment into operation, the Minister may by regulations do anything which appears to be necessary or expedient for bringing the provision or amendment into operation.
