Gambling Regulation Act 2024

Short title and commencement

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Gambling Regulation Act 2024.

(2) This Act, other than section 227, shall come into operation on such day or days as the Minister may by order or orders appoint either generally or with reference to any particular purpose or provision and different days may be so appointed for different purposes or different provisions, and for the repeal or revocation of different provisions of the enactments effected by F1[section 10].

Power pursuant to subs. (2) exercised (5.02.2026) by Gambling Regulation Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2026 (S.I. No. 31 of 2026.

2. The 5th day of February 2026 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 (No. 35 of 2024) shall come into operation:

(a) in Part 1 —

(i) section 6, and

(ii) section 10 and Schedule 2 in so far as they relate to —

(I) items 2 to 6 and 9 of Part 1 of that Schedule, and

(II) items 1 to 4 of Part 2 of that Schedule;

(b) in Part 2 —

(i) in Chapter 1, paragraphs (a), (b)(i), (c) and (f) to (k) of section 15(1),

(ii) Chapter 2, in so far as it is not already in operation, and

(iii) Chapter 4, other than sections 51, 54 and 55;

(c) in Part 4 —

(i) Chapter 1, other than —

(I) subsections (1)(a)(ii), (2) and (3) of section 67,

(II) subsections (2) to (6) of section 68, and

(III) sections 70 to 72,

(ii) Chapter 2, and

(iii) Chapter 3, insofar as it is not already in operation;

(d) in Part 5 —

(i) Chapter 1 and Schedule 3,

(ii) in Chapter 2 — (I) section 84(a),

(II) section 85, other than subsection (1)(c), and

(III) section 90,

(iii) Chapter 4, other than —

(I) paragraphs (b) and (c) of section 102(1),

(II) section 103,

(III) section 104(1)(b), and

(IV) section 105(6),

(iv) Chapter 5, other than —

(I) subsections (2) and (5) to (10) of section 108, and

(II) subparagraphs (iii) and (iv) of section 110(1)(a),

(v) Chapter 6, other than —

(I) paragraphs (a)(ii) and (iii) and (b) of section 112(2),

(II) section 113,

(III) subsections (1)(c), (2)(a)(ii), (3)(c) and (5)(b) and (c) of section 114,

(IV) subsections (3)(a)(ii) and (4)(c), of section 115, and

(V) subsections (1), (2) and (4)(b) of section 117,

and

(vi) Chapter 9, other than —

(I) section 131(g),

Power pursuant to section exercised (5.03.2025) by Gambling Regulation Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2025 (S.I. No. 57 of 2025), as amended (18.03.2025) by Gambling Regulation Act 2024 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order 2025 (S.I. No. 78 of 2025).

2. The 5th day of March [2025] is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 (No. 35 of 2024) shall come into operation:

(a) Part 1, other than sections 6 and 10;

(b) Chapter 1 of Part 2, other than paragraphs (a) to (l) of section 15(1);

(c) Chapter 2 of Part 2, other than –

(i) subsections (2) to (6) of section 40,

(ii) section 41, and

(iii) section 42;

(d) Part 3;

(e) Chapter 3 of Part 4, other than section 81.
