52.— (1) In this Part, “parents”—

(a) includes a surviving parent, and

(b) in relation to a child in respect of whom an adoption order is in force or who is the subject of an intercountry adoption effected outside the State that has been recognised, means—

(i) the adopters, or

(ii) the surviving adopter,

under the order.

(2) References in this Part to—

(a) persons in whose favour the Authority has made a declaration under section 53(1), or

(b) persons applying for an adoption order,

in the case of—

(i) a declaration in favour of one person, or

(ii) an application by one person,

are references to that person.
