262.—(1) The F239[Director of the Probation and Welfare Service] may, in writing, delegate to a named officer of the probation and welfare service of a specified grade, position or description any specified function of the F239[Director of the Probation and Welfare Service] under this Act and may revoke the delegation.

(2) The delegation of a function under this section is without prejudice to the right of the F239[Director of the Probation and Welfare Service] to continue to exercise the function.

(3) The performance of any function delegated under this section shall be subject to the general superintendence and control of the F239[Director of the Probation and Welfare Service] and to such limitations (if any) as may be specified in the instrument of delegation or at any time thereafter.
