Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000

Short title and commencement.

1

1.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Copyright and Related Rights Act, 2000.

(2) This Act shall come into operation on such day or days as the Minister may be order or orders either generally or with reference to any particular purpose appoint, and different days may be so appointed for different purposes or different provisions of this Act.

(3) An order under subsection (2) may, in respect of the repeals or revocations effected by section 10 of the enactments mentioned in the Second Schedule, fix different days for the repeal or revocation of different enactments or for the repeal or revocation for different purposes of any enactment.

Power pursuant to subs. (2) exercised (1.05.2007) by Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000 (Certain Provisions) (Commencement) Order 2007 (S.I. No 157 of 2007), in operation as per art. 2(1).

2. (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this Article, the 1st day of May 2007 is appointed as the day on which the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000 (No. 28 of 2000), in so far as it is not already in operation, shall come into operation.

(2) Paragraph (1) of this Article does not apply to sections 98, 199 and 247 of the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000.

Power pursuant to subs. (2) exercised (1.01.2001) by Copyright and Related Rights Act, 2000 (Commencement) Order, 2000 (S.I. No. 404 of 2000), in operation as per art. 2.

2. The 1st day of January, 2001, is hereby appointed as the day on which provisions of the Copyright and Related Rights Act, 2000 (No. 28 of 2000), specified in the Schedule to this Order, shall come into operation.

1. Part I, all sections except section 10(2) in so far as it applies to section 56 of the Copyright Act, 1963 (No. 10 of 1963);

2. Part II, all sections except-

(a) section 98;

(b) section 198; and

(c) section 199;

3. Part III, all sections except section 247;

4. Part IV;

5. Part V;

6. Part VI; and

7. Part VII.
