Detention

68.      (1) Where, immediately before the coming into operation of this subsection, a person was detained in a place of detention pursuant to section 9 of the Act of 1996, he or she shall be deemed to be detained in that place pursuant to section 20, this Act shall apply accordingly, and the period during which the person was so detained shall be included in reckoning a period for the purpose of section 20.

(2) Pending the making of regulations under section 20, rules or regulations made under section 9 of the Act of 1996 relating to the treatment of persons detained under that section shall, except where they may be inconsistent with this Act, continue in force and shall apply and have effect, with any necessary modifications, in relation to a person detained under this Act.
