Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009

1.

Short title and commencement.

1.— (1) This Act may be cited as the Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009.

(2) The Firearms Acts 1925 to 2007 and Part 4 may be cited together as the Firearms Acts 1925 to 2009 and shall be construed together as one.

(3) This Act shall come into operation on such day or days as the Minister may, by order or orders either generally or with reference to any particular purpose or provision, appoint and different days may be so appointed for different purposes or different provisions.

2. The 1st day of May 2020 is appointed as the day on which Part 3 of the Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 (No. 28 of 2009) shall come into operation.

Power pursuant to section exercised (25.08.2009) Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 (Commencement) (No. 3) Order 2009 (S.I. No. 330 of 2009).

2. The 25th day of August, 2009 is appointed as the day on which—

(a) Part 2,

(b) sections 45 and 46,

(c) section 48 (other than paragraph (c)(iii)), and

(d) sections 49 to 51,

of the Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 (No. 28 of 2009) shall come into operation.

Power pursuant to section exercised (1.08.2009 and 1.01.2010) by Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order 2009 (S.I. No. 310 of 2009).

3. The 1st August 2009 is appointed as the day on which—

(a) Part 1,

(b) sections 25 to 27,

(c) sections 29 to 33,

(d) sections 35, 37 and 39,

(e) section 40 (insofar as it inserts sections 9A and 9B of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act 1990 (No. 12 of 1990)), and

(f) sections 41 to 44,

of the Act of 2009 shall come into operation.

4. The 1st January 2010 is appointed as the day on which section 34 of the Act of 2009 shall come into operation.

Power pursuant to section exercised (27.07.2009) by Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 (Commencement) Order 2009 (S.I. No. 293 of 2009).

2. The 27 July 2009 is appointed as the day on which section 28 of the Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 (No. 28 of 2009) shall come into operation.
