A person who, between the date of publication of the notice of election and the date on which the return is made by the returning officer to the F121[chief returning officer] under rule 92 of persons elected to be representatives in the Parliament, knowingly publishes a false statement of the withdrawal or death of a candidate at the European election shall be guilty of an offence.
