Assignment of health services provider identifier

13. (1) Subject to subsections (2)and (3), the Minister may assign a unique number (in this Act referred to as a “health services provider identifier”) to a health services provider.

(2) Where a health services provider falls within each of paragraphs (b) and (e) of the definition of “health services provider” in section 2(1), the Minister may assign the same health services provider identifier to the provider in both its capacity as a relevant body and its capacity as a relevant agent.

(3) Subject to subsection (4), a health services provider identifier assigned to an individual shall, other than itself, contain no personal data.

(4) Where a health services provider falls within paragraph (a) of the definition of “health services provider” in section 2(1), the Minister may assign a health services provider identifier to the provider which indicates which class of health practitioners that the provider falls within.
