Duty of governor of prison to receive prisoners.
231.— (1) The governor of every prison shall receive and confine, until discharged or delivered over in due course of law, all F323 [ military prisoners ] sent to such prison in pursuance of this Act.
F324 [ (2) The governor of every prison shall also receive into his custody any person subject to military law in service custody upon delivery to the governor of a written order, purporting to be signed by the commanding officer of that person, for any period not exceeding 8 days (which shall not include the day on which the order is made), or any further such order or orders so made for any further such period or periods. ]
