F714[ Interpretation
1087A. In this Chapter—
"central securities depository" means a central securities depository within the meaning of the CSD Regulation that is authorised to perform services in the State;
"CSD Regulation" means Regulation (EU) No 909/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 20146 on improving securities settlement in the European Union and on central securities depositories and amending Directives 98/26/EC and 2014/65/EU and Regulation (EU) No 236/2012;
"relevant issuer" means a public limited company that has issued securities that are relevant securities;
F715["relevant securities" means securities that are—
(a) issued by a relevant issuer, and
(b) registered in the name of—
(i) a central securities depository, or
(ii) a body as may from time to time be nominated by a central securities depository to hold securities represented in that depository’s securities settlement system;]
"securities settlement system" has the meaning given to it by the CSD Regulation.]

Relevant securities construed (12.03.2021) by European Union (Central Securities Depositories) (CSD Nominee) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (S.I. No. 119 of 2021), reg. 3, in effect as per reg. 1(2).
3. For the purposes of Chapter 7A of Part 17 of the Act of 2014, “relevant securities” shall include securities registered in the name of a CSD nominee.
