This Act repealed much of Poor Relief (Ireland) Act 1838 (1 & 2 Vict.) c. 56. A number of post-1922 instruments were made under the collectively cited Poor Law Relief (Ireland) Acts 1838 to 1914 (and other provisions), and may have ceased to have effect because of repeal of their enabling provisions. In any event, they appear to be obsolete and should be revoked: The Country Boards of Health (Assistance) Order 1924 (unnumbered, made 14.03.1924), S.R.& O. Nos. 3 of 1926, 100 of 1927, 17 of 1928, 38 of 1928, 80 of 1930, 68 of 1931, 86 of 1931, 76 of 1932, 31 of 1935, 169 of 1938, 311 of 1938, 213 of 1938, 147 of 1939, 208 of 1939 and 99 of 1940. Changes to payments made under instruments made under the 1939 Act were made by S.I. No. 8 of 1948, and terminated by S.I. No. 75 of 1948, under Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act 1946 (22/1946), ss. 3 and 4, which expired in accordance with s. 16. They are obsolete and should be revoked.
Enabled by the Public Assistance Act 1939 (27/1939), this was repealed, except for ss. 3 and 86, by Social Welfare (Supplementary Welfare Allowances) Act 1975, s. 24, commenced by S.I. No. 156 of 1977. It is considered obsolete by the Department of Social Protection and should be revoked.
Ibid.
Ibid.
Ibid.
This SI adapted the Midwives (Ireland) Act 1918 which was repealed by Midwives Act 1944 (10/1944), s. 4 and sch. It is therefore obsolete and should be revoked.
Enabled by the Public Assistance Act 1939 (27/1939), this was repealed, except for ss. 3 and 86, by Social Welfare (Supplementary Welfare Allowances) Act 1975, s. 24, commenced by S.I. No. 156 of 1977. It is obsolete and should be revoked.
Ibid.
Ibid.
Ibid.
This SI made amendments to Probate Duties (Ireland) Act 1888, Local Government (Ireland) Act 1898 and Local Government (Ireland) Act 1902 to adapt references to the Poor Law Relief system. The effect of these adaptations is probably obsolete in light of the substantive repeal of the 1939 Act.
Ibid.
Ibid.
Responsibility of the Department of Health. The enabling provision is Public Assistance Act 1939 (27/1939), s. 86, which remains in force. The effect of this SI is now spent and it could be revoked.
Ibid.
